We worked very hard to win an Olympic medal, says Islam Satpayev
Kazakhstan’s air rifle shooting team member Islam Satpayev shared what was behind his success at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, Kazinform News Agency cites the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan.
It’s worth noting that Islam Satpayev and Alexandra Le brought Team Kazakhstan the first medal of the ongoing 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The two won the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team bronze medal, Kazakhstan's first medal in a shooting event since 1996.
I’m very excited. After a long time – 28 years, our country once again claimed the Olympic medal in shooting. We worked very hard to achieve such a result - to fight to make it to the final and win a medal, says Islam.
The Kazakhstani athlete spoke highly of his coach, saying that he always shows up at competitions to support him morally. ‘We always work on psychological elements at home’, he said, which, according to him, also contributed to such an Olympic result.
The athlete looks forward to the next Summer Olympics Games set to take place in Los Angeles, US, in 2028.
According to Islam, he was touched when he’d learnt about a dream his mother had about him winning an Olympic medal.
