Volunteers from Kazakhstan will work at the Olympic Games in Sochi

"25 000 volunteers from 26 volunteer centers from all over Russia will come to Sochi as well as volunteers from other countries. They have been thoroughly selected and trained," - a statement of the Organizing Committee "Sochi 2014" says.

The better part of the volunteers were selected from the Krasnodar region, including Sochi (4%), Moscow (11%) and St. Petersburg (7%). Moscow region (a little less than 7 %) and Rostov region (3%) round out the top five.

About 2 000 volunteers are foreign nationals. Most of them are volunteers from the United States (10%), Ukraine (9%), Canada, the UK and Kazakhstan ( 8% ), 7 % of foreign volunteers come from Germany and 4% - from France and the Republic of Belarus. On the "Sochi 2014" team there are several volunteers from Japan, New Zealand, Cameroon, Congo and Pakistan.

According to the press center of the Organizing Committee, the volunteers' average age is 25 years, about 60 % of them are women and 40 % are men.

The team also includes volunteers of the so-called "silver age" - a total of 928 people, the average age of this group is 62 years. 16 % of the volunteers of the older generation are foreign nationals.

At the Olympic and Paralympic Games, volunteers will be involved in the servicing of events (7 102 people), of ceremonies (2 413 people), of the National Olympic and Paralympic Committees (1 180 people), will help with interaction with the IOC (IPC) - 1 149 people, with accreditation (969 people), arrival and departures ( 935 people ), provide language services (564 people).

Approximately 60% of the total number of volunteers will work at the Olympic venues of the coastal cluster, and 40% - at the mountain cluster objects. Volunteers working at the coastal cluster will mainly be involved in the events and activities at Olympic Stadium "Fisht", and those working in the mountains - at ski and biathlon complex "Laura".

Volunteers are expected to arrive in Sochi on 21 and 27 January 2014 and leave it on 24 February and 17 March next year.
