Visit of Canada's Foreign Minister will contribute to strengthening cooperation in various spheres - Nazarbayev

The Head of state welcomed the visit of the Minister to Kazakhstan, noting its importance in the development of bilateral relations.

- Kazakhstan is a lot like Canada concerning geographical and climatic parameters, as well as the structure of the economy. All the years of independence we have been interested in active development of bilateral relations. So we are having a very dynamic partnership in agriculture, said Nursultan Nazarbayev.

Kazakhstan's President expressed confidence that the visit of Foreign Minister of Canada would contribute to strengthening cooperation between the two countries in various fields.

In turn, Mr.Baird thanked for reception and said that his visit to Kazakhstan would give a new impetus to further development of bilateral relations.

- We look forward to signing of the agreement on peaceful use of nuclear energy, and I think it will be a major focus for the development of our cooperation. We have a positive experience in the field of agriculture and introduction of new technologies in it. We are also interested in further progress of trade and economic ties. In addition, we pay great attention to strengthening political and diplomatic cooperation,said D.Baird.

Canada's Foreign Minister expressed his admiration as for the capital of Kazakhstan, and said that the construction of Astana was a vivid testimony to the achievements of the country and would serve as a legacy for future generations.
