Uzbekistan’s Khiva to host Melon Festival

The ancient city of Khiva in Uzbekistan is gearing up to host a very exciting event, UzA reports.

To increase the flow of local and foreign tourists through the comprehensive promotion of Khorezm melon growing, the International Melon Festival will be held on August 9-11 this year on the territory of the Ichan-Kala State Museum-Reserve in the city of Khiva.

According to the Tourism Committee, the festival will include exhibitions of agricultural products, works of fine art, handicrafts, national costumes, performances by folklore groups, tightrope walkers, puppet shows, concert programs, masterclasses on cooking national dishes, baking Khorezm bread and other cultural events.

In addition, an exhibition of fruit and vegetable products, melons, confectionery, beekeeping, livestock, and fish farming products will be organized.
