Uzbekistan’s electricity generation up 7.8% in January-July

Uzbekistan generated 54.3 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity between January and July 2026, marking a 7.8 percent increase compared with the same period last year, according to the country’s Ministry of Energy, Qazinform News Agency cites UzA.

Electricity production rose by 3.9 billion kWh year over year during the first seven months of 2026.

Thermal power plants remained the largest source of electricity, accounting for 38.9 billion kWh of total generation. Large-scale solar and wind facilities produced 7.5 billion kWh, while hydropower plants generated 5.4 billion kWh.

Small-scale solar installations contributed 1.9 billion kWh, while block stations produced 593.7 million kWh.

Meanwhile, Uzbekistan’s electricity consumption reached 52.9 billion kWh from January through July, an increase of 2.6 billion kWh, or 5.2 percent, compared with the same period in 2025.

The country produced 8.9 billion kWh this July, up 920.3 million kWh, or 11.6 percent, from July 2025.

Electricity consumption also increased in July, reaching 8.8 billion kWh, growing by 638.8 million kWh, or 7.8 percent from the same month last year.

Earlier, Qazinform reported Kazakhstan would add 845 MW of new power capacities in 2027.
