Uzbekistan rises 6 positions in e-government development ranking

During his visit to Saudi Arabia, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov met with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Li Junhua, UzA reports.

At the meeting, Li Junhua highly appreciated the current state of e-government development in Uzbekistan and the efforts being made to increase the country’s position in the UN E-Government Development ranking and include it in the TOP 30 countries by 2030.

This year, Uzbekistan has risen by 6 positions in the E-Government Development Index ranking. It was noted that Uzbekistan entered the group with a Very High EGDI. In the previous ranking, the country rose by 18 positions.

At the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the preparations for the UN Public Service Forum, to be held in Samarkand, the topic of the forum, and the main speakers.

Issues of improving the ICT infrastructure, improving Uzbekistan’s position in the e-government rating, and expanding long-term cooperation were also discussed.

At the same time, the importance of achieving sustainable development goals through digital transformation was emphasized.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on further deepening cooperation with the United Nations, introducing best practices and establishing even more active collaboration to achieve sustainable, inclusive, and digital development.

Earlier it was reported that the UAE is first globally in Network Readiness Index, according to UN E-Government Survey 2024.
