Uzbekistan ratifies CIS free trade zone treaty
The protocol was signed in May this year at a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government in Minsk. The document defines the legal arrangements between Uzbekistan and the parties to the contract.
Protocol has been prepared for greater involvement of Uzbekistan in cooperation within the CIS, and the harmonization of trade regimes of the Customs Union with Uzbekistan. The Protocol provides for exemption from import duties in the implementation of trade between the countries of the Customs Union and Uzbekistan.
Uzbekistan became the ninth member of the Treaty on the CIS free trade zone . Currently the Treaty has been joined by Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine. Two more states, parties to the treaty - Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan - have not yet ratified the document.
