Uzbekistan joins IOFS Statute to strengthen food security cooperation
The accession document was signed in Baku by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Agriculture Ibrokhim Abdurakhmonov.
The move is aimed at strengthening food security across member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), supporting sustainable agricultural development, and expanding multilateral collaboration in the sector. The IOFS works to pool resources among member countries, share agricultural expertise and technology, and encourage investment in food production systems.
Uzbekistan’s participation is expected to enhance joint efforts in addressing global challenges such as food shortages, climate change, desertification, and soil degradation.
Earlier, Qazinform reported Central Asian countries approve irrigation water supply schedules ahead of the summer season.
