USA backs Kazakhstan?s hosting of nuclear fuel bank

ASTANA. June 10. KAZINFORM /Aigul Tulekbayeva/ ?The USA Government supports the initiative of Kazakhstan to host the nuclear fuel bank on its territory?, USA Ambassador to Kazakhstan Richard Hougland said.
The Ambassador said that the Governments of Kazakhstan and the USA are not negotiating this issue, for it is in the competence of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
?The Kazakh Government is holding talks with the IAEA to make the proposal to host such bank and to discuss the terms?, R.Hougland said and emphasized that Kazakhstan is a leader in non-proliferation of the mass destruction weapons. ?The USA Government welcomes the initiative of Kazakhstan and will provide the required support in the future?, the Ambassador stated.
