US special education expert visited Kazakhstan

ASTANA. October 10. KAZINFORM Dr. Dennis Ryan, an expert on educating children with disabilities, met with students, parents, teachers, doctors, and administrators from September 26- October 5 in Astana and Almaty. Dr. Ryan has worked with children with special needs as a teacher, school psychologist, and school administrator for 40 years.

He shared best practices in American special education and discussed the benefits of mainstreaming and integration of disabled children into public schools. Dr. Ryan also participated in the Astana screenings the American Documentary Showcase featured film "Kids with Cameras", a film that showed how film-making can help children with autism express themselves, the press service of the US Diplomatic mission to Kazakhstan reports.

Dr. Ryan's visit was supported by the U.S. Embassy's speaker program. During his visit, he Dr. Ryan spoke at the Special Correctional Boarding School, the American Corner, the Special School for Disabled Children, the National Rehabilitation Center, School #17, the National Center of Special Education, Public Fund "SATR," and the National Center for Professional Development.
