US Science Envoy visits Kazakhstan Institute of Chemical Sciences
The head of the institute told about the strengths and weaknesses in the domestic chemical science and industry, the activities of his department, research by modern scholars.
"Now there is a situation that Kazakhstan just "throws" huge amounts of oil abroad, while the work of our refineries is limited to the production of gasoline and diesel fuel, and we have to buy oil and other petroleum products from abroad, from Russia," Yergozhin emphasized.
After the meeting the US delegation visited laboratories and other facilities of the institute.
Dr. Gast arrived in Kazakhstan following the recent visit of Assistant Secretary of State for the Bureau of Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Dr. Carrie-Ann Jones. The visit is aimed at discussing bilateral relations and strengthening cooperation in science.
