US Embassy invites young Kazakhstanis to compete for potential appointment to the US Service Academies

Candidates must be unmarried, at least 17 years of age and must not have passed their 23rd birthday on July 1, 2013. Academy graduates from Kazakhstan would sign a contract with the Ministry of Defense of Kazakhstan to return and serve in the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan for a specified period of time, and would earn a Bachelor of Science degree. Foreign students get the same training, pay, and allowances as U.S. citizens, and are subject to the same rules and regulations, the press service of the US Diplomatic Mission to Kazakhstan said.
Interested applicants must pass the Test of English as a Second Language (TOEFL), the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT Reasoning) or the American College Test (ACT), an Embassy-administered physical fitness test; a medical exam showing they are free of communicable diseases, and pass an interview administered by the U.S. Embassy in Astana. All candidates must be registered at their local respective Departments for Defense Matters.
