UNDP Report considers Kazakhstan one of new players forming modern global development
This was reported by the UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan Stephen Tull in the regional presentation of the UNDP global titled «Rising of South: human progress in variable world», which was held at the Foreign Ministry.
"Why has Kazakhstan been selected for regional presentation on Europe and the former Soviet Union and Central Asia? This marks the growing role of the country in international relations. That means that the UNDP has recognized the measures that Kazakhstan is taking on human development ", said S.Tull.
He noted that "Kazakhstan-2050" Strategy sets very ambitious goals and, at the same time, Kazakhstan is implementing very pragmatic, thoughtful approaches to achieve those goals.
According to Mr. Tull, in Kazakhstan for the last 20 years there has been reduction of poverty, improved measures to ensure the equal rights of women. But it is necessary to take measures for child mortality reduction and improvement of other indicators.
S.Tull also stresses that Kazakhstan is moving away from resource-based economy and its foreign policy shows a disposition to multilateral cooperation and collective actions. According to the Global Report Kazakhstan is considered as one of the new players forming the landscape of modern global development.
