UN Sec-Gen calls for implementation of solutions concerning Aral Sea

TASHKENT. April 5. KAZINFORM. /Kurmat Samarkhan/ At today's press conference upon the results of his visit to Uzbekistan UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon has called for implementation of the solutions regarding the Aral Sea.
He noted that at the talks with President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov they discussed both regional and global problems. "We agreed that Central Asia as any other region in the world needs a dialogue and regional cooperation for provision of economic growth, development and modernization. Regional problems always need regional solutions", he said.
The Secretary General informed that they also discussed the results of the Summit of International Fund for saving the Aral Sea held last year.
As reported earlier, presently the UN Secretary General is making his Central Asia tour. He began his visit from Turkmenistan and Kyrgyzstan. After Uzbekistan he will visit Tajikistan and then Kazakhstan.
