UN Development Assistance Framework for 2010-2015 presented in Astana

The program is aimed at rendering assistance to Kazakhstan in realization of national strategies and plans on increase of competitiveness with paying special attention to human development. The support will be given in three priority directions. The first priority is the economic and social well-being of population, particularly its vulnerable segments including women, children, repatriates, refugees, youth, elderly and disabled people. The second priority is aimed at ensuring stability of environment through the integrated resource management and more effective use of budgets for the solution of problems connected with climate change and mitigation of its consequences. The third one is the efficient state management i.e. strengthening of the institutional capacity, civil society and mass media as well as the problems of human rights observation.

The total amount of the UN's investments in UNDAF realization is expected to make USD 79.39 million. A number of projects will be financed by the Government of Kazakhstan as well.
