UN conference discusses ways out of crisis

NEW YORK. June 25. KAZINFORM /Aliya Altyngazina/ - A high-level conference on the global financial crisis and its consequences was held at the UN headquarters in New York Wednesday. Opening the forum Chairman of the session of the UN General Assembly Miguel D'Escoto called to unite the efforts to prevent the global crisis from turning into a social, ecologic and humanitarian catastrophe. He proposed to elaborate a common coordinated approach to deliver the world from the recession, that envisage responsible and sustainable consumption of natural resources, democratic principles and consolidation of the general moral and spiritual values.
Alexey Kudrin, Finance Minister of Russia, also addressed the conference and called for creation of a new, fair and transparent international financial and economic system, and to develop the general rules to be followed by all the countries including the leading economies.
