UN chief congratulated on spring holiday Nowruz

KAZINFORM - In the message on the International Day of Nowruz the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon stressed that Nowruz does not only bring together the states, but recalls that we should cherish our common planet, the Central Communications Service under the President of Kazakhstan informs.

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said that "Nowruz, the first day of spring, which is celebrated on the first day of spring, was a centuries-old tradition in many countries of Western, Central and South Asia, the Caucasus, the Balkans and beyond.

"Celebrating Nowruz involves a lot of cultural practices. Holiday rituals may include horse racing, traditional wrestling, performance of songs in different languages, storytellers' speaking, telling about the mythical king Jamshid, and the lighting of candles in front of houses. These different manifestations of magic Nowruz teach the same idea, the idea of human solidarity ", stated the UN Secretary-General.

Ban Ki-moon stressed that a successful initiative sponsored by the inclusion of Nowruz into the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO had been made a number of countries.

"On this International Day of Nowruz, I wish all the best to those who celebrate it, and I hope that everyone will take advantage of this opportunity to contemplate the beauty of nature, anticipation of spring and thinking about the power of culture that is able to build peace," concluded Ban Ki -moon in his message.
