UN chief arrives in Kabul for international conference on Afghanistan

During the talks, the Afghan government will present its development projects to foreign ministers and other top representatives of more than 70 countries and international organizations. Participants in the talks are to decide on international aid to be allocated to help the impoverished country improve the social and economic situation.

The agenda will include the improvement of living standards and state regulations in Afghanistan, human rights and security issues, the country's cooperation with the international community and regional states, as well as the timeframe for NATO-led International Security Assistance Force's troop withdrawal.

Ban, along with Afghan President Hamid Karzai, UNAMA head Staffan de Mistura, and Afghan Finance Minister Omar Zakhilwal will open the conference, the statement said.
