"The offer is $250, but no more than $260," he said.

The Ukrainian government press office did not comment on the gas talks. "We are waiting for a report of Fuel and Energy Minister Yuri Boiko to Prime Minister Nikolai Azarov," the premier's press secretary Vitaly Lukyanenko told Itar-Tass.

The Russian and Ukrainian governments have approved the gas price agreement between Gazprom and Neftegaz Ukrainy, a Russian government representative said. He noted that the solution was based on the proposals of Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovich. "The [corporate] gas deal will have to be confirmed with a government resolution," he added, Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com
