U.S. Official visits Kazakhstan for bilateral discussions

ASTANA. October 28. KAZINFORM On October 28-31, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, George Krol, is visiting Kazakhstan. Deputy Assistant Secretary Krol is in Almaty on October 28, where he is meeting with his colleagues in the U.S. Agency for International Development and with members of civil society. He will be in Astana on October 29-31, meeting with Kazakhstani government officials to discuss Kazakhstan's upcoming Chairmanship of the OSCE and other bilateral issues aimed at strengthening the strategic relationship that exists between Kazakhstan and the United States.

Ambassador George A. Krol is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service bearing the rank of Minister-Counselor. He joined the Foreign Service in 1982 and served as U.S. Ambassador to Belarus 2003-2006. He has served in overseas postings in Warsaw, New Delhi, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev and Minsk and has held several domestic assignments, including Director of the State Department's Office of Russian Affairs and Special Assistant to the Ambassador-at-large for the New Independent States. He has also taught at the National War College and was a member of the State Department's Senior Seminar. Ambassador Krol is the recipient of several State Department Meritorious and Superior Honor awards. He speaks Russian and Polish.
