U.S. Deputy Secretary of State to visit Astana

ASTANA. KAZINFORM - The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns is expected to pay a visit to Astana on May 7-8, the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan says.
His visit will confirm the United States' long-term commitment to the security and prosperity in Central Asia.
"The United State, as the first country to open its embassy in Kazakhstan, is proud with the close cooperation on a wide range of issues, including strengthening regional security, expansion of trade and economic cooperation, and promotion of human rights and civil society," the embassy's statement reads.
The U.S. Deputy Secretary Burns is set to meet with the country's leadership in order to discuss a spectrum of bilateral and regional cooperation issues, including security, politics, economy and human dimension.
