Two women die every day from cervical cancer in Kazakhstan

ALMATY. KAZINFORM A press conference and a workshop "Women's oncology and modern treatment methods" held today in Almaty brought together Kazakhstan and Turkish experts to share practice in diagnostics and treatment of cancer in women, tell about new methods and share views on further cooperation.
As stated there, the problem of women's oncology in Kazakhstan is still one of the most urgent issues. Cervical cancer kills two women every day in Kazakhstan. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women after breast cancer. "As the World Health Organization statistics say, cancer rates will grow significantly by 70% within 20 years ahead around the world. About 1,400 Turkish women are diagnosed with cervical cancer annually. However cancer is not a verdict. Preventive measures play a focal role in diagnostics and treatment of cancer," Professor Serkan Erkanly said.
At the end of the press conference the doctors jointly examined the patients of the Almaty cancer detection centre and gave consultations.
