Turkistan region reports 47 confirmed measles cases in H1 2026
Kazakhstan's Turkistan region recorded 131 suspected measles cases in the first half of 2026, Qazinform News Agency reports.
Of these, 47 cases were laboratory-confirmed, while 27 cases were detected during the same period in 2027.
The majority of infections were registered in Sairam district - 14, Turkistan city - 11, Sauran and Tulkubas districts - 8 in each.
According to the regional sanitary-epidemiological department, 57.4% of patients or 27 people, had not been vaccinated. In response, authorities carried out additional mass immunization of more than 30,000 children aged 6-10 months and 2-4 years.
The region also reported 25 cases of hepatitis A, with 75% of patients being schoolchildren.
Earlier, it was reported that Kostanay recorded 167 measles cases in the first half of 2026, up from just 10 cases during the same period last year.
