Turkistan region eyes glass plant, wind farm in talks with Chinese investors
Akim (Governor) of the Turkistan region, Nuralkhan Kusherov, held talks with representatives of leading international industrial and energy companies in China, Qazinform News Agency reports, citing the regional akimat's press service.
First on the agenda was investment cooperation with the management of Kibing Group. The company specializes in producing float glass and energy-saving glass products for the construction industry, specialty glass for electronic devices, photovoltaic glass for solar energy, and high-quality glass products for the pharmaceutical industry.
The sides discussed a project to build a large production complex in the Turkistan region to produce float glass and process quartz sand. The governor had previously met with investors to discuss the project's implementation in detail. The project will not only boost the region's industrial potential but also create conditions for developing building materials production, reducing import dependence, and expanding export opportunities. Additionally, the new enterprise will create hundreds of permanent jobs and help upgrade the skills of local specialists.

The regional leadership also met with representatives of China Energy, one of China's largest energy companies. The talks focused on a project to build a large 1,500 MW wind power plant.

The initiative fully aligns with the Turkistan region's renewable energy development strategy. The project will strengthen the region's energy security and significantly increase the production of clean electricity. It will also contribute to the development of engineering infrastructure and increased investment activity.
It is worth mentioning that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the development of the green economy and increasing the share of renewable energy in the country. In this regard, alternative energy development is one of the Turkistan region's strategic priorities. The favorable natural and climatic conditions in the region, including high wind and solar potential, create ample opportunities for successful renewable energy projects.

It was noted that the meetings with international companies are the result of systematic work to implement the Turkistan region's investment policy. The regional leadership aims to achieve sustainable economic growth by expanding cooperation in industry, high technology, and green energy.
The agreements reached with major investors are expected to create a solid foundation for strengthening the Turkistan region's industrial potential and transforming it into one of Kazakhstan's key industrial and energy development hubs.
