Turkish Sembol builds Astana Stadium in Kazakhstan

ANKARA.  July 6. KAZINFORM The Astana Stadium, which was built by Turkish contractor Sembol Insaat, was inaugurated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev on Saturday,  Kazinform cites Today's Zaman.

The stadium's construction started in 2006 and cost $185 million. It has a retractable roof and the capacity to host 30,000 spectators.

In addition to Nazarbayev, Fettah Tamince, the chairman of Rixos Hotels' executive board and Sembol Inşaat's founder, Kazakh ministers and lawmakers, Turkish Football Federation's executive board member Levent Kızıl, Turkish national team coach Fatih Terim and Turkish footballers Hakan Sukur, Hasan Sas and Andriy Schevchenko participated in the inauguration ceremony.

Stating that he was proud of finishing a project which will become a symbol of Kazakhstan, Tamince said the Astana Stadium will definitely be considered one of the world's greatest stadiums with its architectural and technological attributes. "The stadium will generate a boost to social and cultural life in Astana. The stadium project is a matter of prestige both for the city and for our group," Tamince said and added that they are continuing with construction projects in Kazakhstan and other countries. He outlined the distinguishing characteristics of their projects and emphasized the outstanding work of the group's staff. "We had teams of workers, engineers and managers operating on the project in under -40 Centigrade conditions. We completed every project we were responsible for and never gave up when others did," said Tamince.

Sembol Insaat has been operating in a variety of locations such as Ukraine, Russia, Kazakhstan and many European countries and is considered one of the leading companies in the construction sector because of its expertise. The company is also known for its achievements in completing projects ahead of deadline, Kazinform refers to Today's Zaman.
