Tokayev and Erdoğan meet at Independence Palace in Astana for talks

Kazakhstani leader Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan at the Independence Palace in Astana, Qazinform News Agency correspondent reports.

An honor guard lined up in the lobby of the Independence Palace for the high-profile visitor, while the Presidential Orchestra played both nations' anthems.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan walked along the carpet to the State Flag of the Republic of Kazakhstan, after which the heads of state began a narrow-format meeting.

Previously, Qazinform reported Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev welcomed his Turkish counterpart President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan upon his arrival in Kazakhstan for a state visit. 

Upon entering Kazakh airspace, President Erdoğan’s aircraft was flanked by Kazakhstan Air Defense Force fighters, which accompanied him until touchdown in Astana.
