Turkish citizen detained in Atyrau on suspicion of vehicular homicide

The head of the press service of the region's interior department, Gulnazira Mukhtarova says that a Volvo truck driven by a 42-year-old Turkish national and UAZ car driven by a 30-year-old Atyrau resident collided on the Atyrau- Astrakhan highway.

"According to the preliminary information, the Volvo driver lost control on the slippery road and drove in the oncoming lane, where he clashed with the UAZ, which caught fire as a result. The police that happened to be near the site of the accident had managed to evacuate the driver and three passengers from the burning car before it exploded. One more passenger who remained in the car was killed by the fire. The injured were taken to Isatai district's hospital. The Volvo driver was detained. He will be prosecuted under Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan", - Ms Mukhtarova informed.
