Turkey starts high-speed, low-price 3G services

ANKARA. July 30. KAZINFORM Turkey officially started operation of the third-generation (3G) mobile communications systems Thursday by providing high-speed and low-price services, Kazinform refers to Xinhua.

With the 3G technologies, Turkish mobile users can enjoy watching TV on cell phones, making video calls and surfing the Internet with a connection speed 10 times faster.

    Apart from the high-speed, 3G mobile users will also be able to access the Internet at lower prices than before, the report quoted Sureyya Ciliv, director general of main operator Turkcell, as saying.

    Major Turkish mobile operators, namely Turkcell, Avea and Vodafone, inked contracts with Turkish Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) on April 30 and completed technical preparations for transiting to the 3G technology, the report said, Kazinform cites Xinhua.
