Transdniestrian parliament to hold first meeting on December 29

TIRASPOL. December 25. KAZINFORM The Transdniestrian parliament will hold its first meeting on December 29, unrecognized republic leader Igor Smirnov said in his ordinance on Friday. Kazinform refers to Itar-Tass.
Powers of the new parliament deputies will be approved, and the parliament speaker will be elected on that day.
There were 123 candidates for 43 parliament seats, and over half of the winners were re-elected.
The region has about a dozen of political organizations, ranging from communist to liberal-democratic, yet all of them support the policy of closer relations with Russia and independence from Moldova. Kazinform cites Itar-Tass. See www.itar-tass.com
