ASTANA. January 18. KAZINFORM /Muratbek Makulbekov/ "Trade unions of receiving countries should protect rights of labor migrants to prevent social dumping," ILO representative Sergejus Glovaskas told at today's training for trade unions as part of the joint project of the European Union and International Labour Organization on labour migration.

"As far as we cannot stop the labor migration process, we should control it, understand it and make it work for the benefit of people and a country," Mr Glovaskas added.

"International trade unions' movement prioritized protection, representation and organization of labor migrants. Trade unions should represent the interest of all people working, despite their status, whether he (she) is a member of the trade union. If trade unions fail to protect the rights of all workpeople then it gives a rise to a gap of decent work, consequently, it will affect the local working population. Labor migrants ready to work on any terms, incompetent to uphold their rights may degrade Kazakhstan's achievements in the sphere of labor relations,". ILO spokesman stressed.
