Trade turnover with Customs Union states increased by 38% for half year of CU's work - N.Nazarbayev

ASTANA. December 21. KAZINFORM /Zhanna Zhandagulova/ The trade turnover with Customs Union member states increased by 38 percent over half-year period of the Customs Union's work. President of Kazakhstan N.Nazarbayev said it at the awarding ceremony of "Altyn Sapa" and "Paryz" prizes in Astana.
'We are always asked a question - 'What do we need it for?'. We need it because enterprises we build have to sell their products. Therefore we opened a 170 million people market. The first six months showed the results in figures, it is the increase of trade turnover with these countries by 38 percent. The export reached USD 50 bln', the Head of state said.
According to the President now the competition with Russian and Belarusian producers is very high. 'If we want to join the WTO we need to be competitive. We need to take our places in these markets and increase quality of our products for being fully competitive at any market. We are just getting ready to enter world markets', N. Nazarbayev added.
