TOYOTA. KAZINFORM - Toyota Motor Corp. (7203), the world's largest automaker, recalled more than 400,000 Lexus vehicles because fuel leaks may develop in some cars and cause fires.
The previously disclosed recall covers certain models made from 2006 through 2011, according todocuments posted today to the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Japanese automaker said that in some cases fuel could leak past a gasket and, near an ignition source, increase the risk of a fire. Toyota said it will "repair the gasket seating surface of the fuel delivery pipe where the fuel pressure sensor is installed, replace the gasket with a new one, and re-install the fuel pressure sensor with the proper tightening torque." The Japanese automaker first disclosed the recall last month. The company said at the time that it isn't aware of any fires, crashes, injuries or fatalities, Bloomberg reported Saturday.
