Tourism and Sport Ministry proposes to launch sports channel

He noted that the Asian Games, events held within the framework of the Asian Games and the Torch Relay were covered at a very high level. Moreover, upon the completion of the Games the mass media has narrowed sports coverage to the limit. He emphasized that our channels broadcast only football matches and short news on achievements of our sportsmen.

According to him, sports promotion must be more active. Sports events should be broadcast on TV more often.

"We think that there is a necessity to launch a new channel, dedicated to sports, that will be providing sports news from our countries and abroad", Y. Kanagatov said.

"Our history is rich in sports achievements and there must be a channel to tell about the past of our sports about its present and future," Y. Kanagatov concluded.
