‘Torch of victory’ relay launched in Karaganda region (PHOTO)

The campaign has been launched 70 days before the 70th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War. Mayor of Karaganda region Nurmukhambet Abdibekov spoke at a solemn ceremony in a Sports Palace named after Serik Sapiyev. He stressed, that the Victory Day has been and remains one of the major holidays of the country. The Governor recalled that during the Great Patriotic War 47 thousand citizens of Karaganda region have been mobilized to the front. More than half of them died hero's death. 6,500 citizens of Karaganda regions have been awarded military orders and medals. The title of Hero of the Soviet Union was awarded to 32 people of the region, 9 became Full Cavaliers of the Order of Glory.
