Tokayev meets with U.S. Congressman Faleomavaega and OIC rep Salem al-Hauni
At the meeting Mr. Tokayev expressed gratitude to the American congressman for the his activity on support of Kazakhstani nuclear nonproliferation initiatives, strengthening of international dialogue and activation of inter-parliamentary interaction in these spheres.
The two officials discussed several aspects of further development and reinforcement of relations between the Parliament and the U.S. Congress. Eni Faleomavaega highly appraised the results of the religious Congress that was held in Astana on July 1-2 and emphasized the growing role of Kazakhstan as the regional leader in Central Asia.
Today Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev also met with deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Conference, Chief Commissar for religion and inter-religious dialogue Salem al-Hauni.
Tokayev thanked the OIC administration for the support of Nursultan Nazarbayev's initiative to develop a dialogue between the Muslim world and the west and for the participation in the III Congress of the Leaders of the World and Traditional Religions. In reply Salem al-Hauni emphasized the big meaning of the forum and told best regards of the OIC Secretary General Ihsanoglu and noted the OIC administration highly appreciates the activity of Kazakhstan on development of the inter-religious dialogue and considers it as an important contribution to the cause of peace and stability in the world.
