Tokayev meets Qarmet Board Chairman, head of Allur Group of Companies Andrey Lavrentyev

Kazakh Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Chairman of the Qarmet JSC Board of Directors, head of the Allur Group of Companies Andrey Lavrentyev, Kazinform News Agency cites Akorda.

Kazakh President Tokayev was informed about the current state of the Qarmet enterprise, measures to stabilize its operation, plans to increase its production, as well as labor safety.

During the meeting, Tokayev pointed out the special importance of ensuring the safety of the enterprise’s personnel, major upgrade of its equipment and technical base to avoid emergencies.

The Kazakh Head of State was briefed about the meeting of the leadership of Qarmet with the metallurgical and coal industry workers union, discussing the labor conditions as well as the issues of further cooperation in taking decisions important for the personnel. Following the meeting, the agreement on joint development of a future collective agreement between the company and its employees was signed.

According to Lavrentev, Qarmet has set the strategic task of increasing its volumes of production and return it the status of one of the leaders of metallurgy in CA and the CIS by 2028. For that, it is planned to increase the production by 64% to five million tons, iron ore concentrate by 88% to five million tons and coal production by 47% to nine million tons per year.

Tokayev attached great attention to the environmental issues in the region. He noted the importance of taking drastic measures to improve the environmental situations in Temirtau by conversion of the equipment to natural gas.

The Kazakh Head of State was also briefed about the results of the work and plans for the development of the Allur machine-building enterprise.

In 2023, the enterprise produced over 90,000 vehicles, a record figure for the domestic automotive industry. In March this year, CKD production of Chevrolet Onix cars is to be launched. Equipment is being set up for a mass production of Škoda vehicles. Within the industrial zone of Kostanay city, a Kia Qazaqstan plant is under construction with a capacity of 70,000 vehicles per year.

Following the meeting, the Head of State stressed the importance of conducting a set of measures to create safe labor conditions and instructed to timely realize investment projects, including those aimed at improving the environment.
