The Head of State expressed gratitude to Emomali Rahmon for personally attending the SCO summit and unwavering support of Astana’s priorities and initiatives.

President Tokayev emphasized that Emomali Rahmon’s participation in the SCO summit has special meaning, because his is the only standing President who stood at the origins of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in 1996.

“This organization, in my opinion, is an effective, authoritative and democratic alliance, in its essence. We hope tomorrow’s summit will be a success,” he said.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev stressed that bilateral cooperation between Astana and Dushanbe develops dynamically across a whole spectrum of areas. In his words, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan managed to build truly allied relations thanks largely to Emomali Rahmon.

The Tajik President, in turn, praised Kazakhstan’s successful presidency in the SCO and gradual development of bilateral cooperation in trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian as well as security spheres.
