Three Kazakhstanis detained in China for saiga horn smuggling

BEIJING. June 22. KAZINFORM - Conveyor of illegal shipment of saiga horns from Kazakhstan to China is still working non-stop. Chinese customs officials on May 12 during the inspection at the checkpoint of Alashankou in the baggage compartments of Almaty-Urumqi international train have found 719 pieces of saiga horns, the import of which is prohibited in China, the local media reports.
During the operation the law enforcement authorities of the Chinese Republic had detained three citizens of Kazakhstan and one citizen of China. The other day, a criminal case involving smuggling Kazakhs has been transferred to the Prosecutor's Office of Xinjiang.
Profiteering does not stop the Kazakh and Chinese poachers and smugglers, because in China saiga horns are a valuable raw material used in traditional medicine.
