There is huge potential for development of Kazakhstan-Korea cooperation - President of Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak

UL. April 22. KAZINFORM /Yernur Akanbay/ In the opinion of President of the Republic of Korea Lee Myung-bak, Kazakhstan and South Korea possess huge potential for development of cooperation.

According to him, during the talks with Kazakh Leader Nursultan Nazarbayev in Seoul the parties agreed on development of close cooperation of the countries in order to achieve good results from realization of such large projects as construction of Balkhash Thermal Power Plant and joint exploration of Zhambyl deposit.

At the same time the heads of state reached an agreement on boosting trade and raising investments, development of close interaction in construction of Kuryk port, exploration of uranium deposits, in the spheres of information technologies, petrochemistry, defense industry, transport infrastructure and agriculture.

"Today we have discussed the issues concerning Kazakhstan-South Korea bilateral relations. The negotiations confirmed our partnership relations and how we need each other", President of South Korea said.

He also said that since 2000 Kazakhstan had significantly strengthened its state power. "The international weight of the country grows. Over the last 20 years Kazakhstan has been playing a leading role in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia; this year it took the post of the OSCE presiding country", Lee Myung-bak stressed.
