The number of drug users in Kazakhstan reduced by 26%

Astana. December 25. KAZINFORM - The number of drug addicts in Kazakhstan has lowered, according to Bakhytzhan Beiseev, head of the interior ministry's Committee to combat drug trafficking.

At a meeting of SCO task group to tackle drug trafficking, he said that their number had been down by over 26% from 54 669 to 40 224 in the previous 5 years. He also noted the decreased number of teen drug users by almost 64% from 723 to 263, which is evidence to efficient propaganda of right priorities and values for our youth, healthy lifestyles.

The SCO task group met today in Astana to talk over further implementation of the SCO 2011-2016 anti-drug strategy in the coming year, ways of popularizing healthy lifestyles with teens, involvement of educational, healthcare, culture, sports facilities and authorities and public organizations in it.
