Tests of inactivated swine flu vaccine started in St. Petersburg

ST. PETERSBURG. September 18. KAZINFORM /Yelena Myagkova/ Clinical tests of inactivated swine flu vaccine started in St. Petersburg Influenza Research Institute. The volunteers will be inoculated with the inactivated vaccine; Director of the Institute Oleg Kisselev said.

The second group of volunteers will be examined during 42 days. During this period the experts will know whether there is need for second vaccination or not.

According to him compulsory vaccination in Russia against swine flu is expected to be started in November. Following the results of tests it can be possible to say about production of a live or killed (inactivated) swine flu vaccine.

According to the Influenza Research Institute some CIS countries gave several requests for swine flu vaccine delivery.

As was reported earlier the first clinical tests of 'Influvir' vaccine started in St. Petersburg on September, 10. At present 400 A/H1N1 flu cases were confirmed in Russia.
