Terminal construction starts in Chinese port of Lianyungang in 2014
In 1995 between Kazakhstan and China was signed the agreement on the use of the Chinese port of Lianyungang by Kazakhstan for freight. China's new leadership pays attention to the development and expansion of the port of Lianyungang container transport on a transcontinental bridge.
Following the visit, the head of China to Kazakhstan in September of this year, the parties agreed to grant Kazakhstan some territory in the port of Lianyungang to build its own terminal.
Lianyungang Port, located in Jiangsu Province (East China), has a favorable geographical position. It is connected by rail links with other major Chinese ports like Qingdao, Tyantszyan, Dalian and Shanghai, and also has maritime line with the Korean port of Busan and the Japanese port of Osaka.
