TB mortality decreased by 65 % in Kazakhstan over the last 10 years

ALMATY. November 12. KAZINFORM According to the press service of the Kazakh Ministry of Health, the tuberculosis morbidity and mortality rates have significantly decreased in Kazakhstan for the last 10 years.
Thus, over the last 10 years, the tuberculosis morbidity rate dropped by 47.5% to make 86.6 people per 100 thousand of population in 2011.
Even more significant reduction shows the TB mortality rates. The Health Ministry figures indicate a decline of 65.3% over the past 10 years. In 2003, there were 24.2 deaths per 100 thousand population, 8.4 in 2011.
The ministry said that the improvement largely is the result of the implementation of the Kazakh National Strategy for Tuberculosis Treatment.
