Taxi fleet of eco-fuel cars presented in Astana

The presentation involved the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Astana city akim Imangali Tasmagambetov. The project “Astana Eco taxi” is the first event of one of the three programs of the city akimat for preparation of the city infrastructure to conduct of the international specialized exhibition EXPO-2017. The project includes “Astana mobility” - realization of decisions on renovation and quality improvement of the transport infrastructure and logistics of the city; “Astana Green City” - realization of decisions in the sphere of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources; and “Welcome to Astana!” - development of tourist attractiveness of the city and making the infrastructure of hotel and restaurant business and city service sector correspondent to international standards.

“This project is implemented on the principles of the state and private partnership. It is aimed at creation of the largest in Astana taxi fleet of eco-fuel cars and at introduction of civilized and legal service forms of the population in the sphere of taxi transportations and provision of passengers’ safety”, - they reported in the press service of Astana city akim’s office.

The first stage of the project realization is to start with exploitation of 100 cars the number of which will be increased up to 500 cars by 2017. Investments on the initial stage amounted to 450 million tenge. In the course of realization of this project additional work places will be created in the sphere of transportations.

The whole car fleet “Astana Eco taxi” will work on liquefied gas, propane-butane mixture (SNG), which will contribute to improvement of ecological situation in the city and to reduction of prices for taxi fleet services because of the lower price of the fuel. Currently 18 gas stations function in the city.

Cars by the South Korean brand SsangYong are assembled in Kostanay city at production sites of AgromashHolding and correspond to all international quality standards. They are equipped with taximeters, GPS navigation, credit card machines, Wi-Fi and multimedia system with guide and information about Astana city.
