Talks, film screenings and discussion in Brunei Gallery, London

LONDON. July 3. KAZINFORM On July 14 the Brunei Suite of the London-based Bruney Gallery, SOAS, will hold a day of talks, films screenings and discussions intended to create understanding of the historical background of the Kazakh of western Mongolia; their economic and political situation; daily life in this area; and domestic crafts production by Kazakh women. Speakers include Professor Peter Finke, Raisa Kader, and Dr Anna Portisch.
Two films will be screened: 'L'appel de la Steppe' - [Call of the Steppe] by French travel writer, Antoine de Changy, and film maker Célina Antomarchi-Lamé: a film about the Kazakh Diaspora in western Mongolia and the authors' extended stay with a Kazakh family in the Altai Mountains.
The second film, 'The Ballad of the Trader' by French anthropologist, Gaëlle Lacaze, depicts the livelihood strategies of Kazakh traders in western Mongolia after the fall of Soviet-backed socialism in Mongolia, Kazinform refers to the press service of the Kazakhstan Embassy in the United Kingdom.
