Swine flu epidemic starts in Ukraine - the country's Health Minister

KIEV. October 31. KAZINFORM A/H1N1 (swine) influenza epidemic has started in Ukraine, the country's Health Minister Vasily Knyazevich told journalists; Kazinform cites Itar-Tass.
"We state by preliminary results that Ukraine has entered the world pandemic zone and A/H1N1 influenza epidemic is beginning in the country," the minister noted.
He urged the Ukrainian population not to engaged in self-treatment and apply to doctors.
The Ukrainian government has assigned $62.5 million for buying medicines, medical equipment and flu masks in connection with the A/H1N1 flu epidemic, Prime Minister Yulia Timoshenko said at the Ternopol meeting with Ukrainian western regions' heads; Kazinform has learnt from Itar-Tass.
