Sweltering temperatures, thunderstorms and dust storms to grip Kazakhstan
A storm warning has been issued for 16 regions of Kazakhstan on August 8, Qazinform News Agency cites Kazhydromet.
Light rain, fog and thunderstorms are expected at night and in the morning in the north of Abai region. Strong heat up to 35°C is forecast locally with high fire danger remaining in the south and center of the region.
Almaty region is reported to observe rain, thunderstorms, heavy rain, hail, and squalls. Mercury will rise as high as 35–37°C. Extreme fire danger persists in the west, north, and south of the region, while high fire danger remains in the east.
Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north of Akmola region. Extreme fire danger persists in the west, and high fire danger in the center.
Air temperature will read 35–38°C in Aktobe region. High fire danger persists in the north, while extreme fire danger remains in the west, south, southeast, and center.
East Kazakhstan is set to brace for rain and thunderstorms, fog and winds. High fire danger persists in the southeast and center, while extreme fire danger remains in the south of the region.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected to grip Zhambyl region. Mercury will soar up to 38°C. Extreme fire danger persists across the region, with high fire danger in the east and south.
Strong heat of 35–38°C is expected during the day in West Kazakhstan. High fire danger persists across the region, while extreme fire danger remains in the west, south, east, and center.
Fog is expected at night and in the morning in the west and north of Karaganda, Kostanay and Pavlodar regions. Extreme fire danger persists locally.
