Strong quake rocks Russia's Far East

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY. July 30. KAZINFORM A magnitude 6.6 earthquake struck Russia's Far East, the Russian Academy of Science's geophysical services on the Kamchatka Peninsula reported on Friday, Kazinform refers to RIA Novosti.
The quake hit 150 kilometers off the eastern coast of the peninsula in the Pacific Ocean at 4:00 p.m. local time [04:00 GMT].
There are no reports of damage to buildings or any casualties.
The Kamchatka Peninsula also has several active volcanoes and is part of the Pacific Ring of Fire, a region where 90% of the world's earthquakes and 80% of the world's largest earthquakes occur, Kazinform cites RIA Novosti. See www.en.rian.ru
