Street racer ramming into crowd of spectators, nabbed in Moscow

Law enforcers noted that the road accident took place on Sunday at 04.00 in the Promyshlenny By-Street, Southern Borough. "According to tentative data, a group of teenagers started the so-called night race, during which one motorist lost steering and rammed into a crowd of spectators," a source said.

As a result of injuries, one man died on the spot, and five wounded people were hospitalised. Still another wounded man received medical aid on the spot.

"The motorist escaped from the place of the accident, but was detained by police officers several hours later," the source added.

In turn, a duty officer of the public relations service of the Moscow Police Department Anatoly Lastovetsky confirmed the road accident to Itar-Tass, noting that circumstances of the accident are now being ventilated. "The driver who ran into a group of people, is now giving testimonies to investigators," Lastovsky said. "Police now tries to find out what happened in the street, and why so many people were at the place of the accident."
