Street named after D.Kunayev appeared in Astana - Nazarbayev

ALMATY. January 12. KAZINFORM /Sara Mustafina/ A street named after D.Kunayev has appeared in the young capital of Kazakhstan - the city of Astana. Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev has announced it at a celebratory meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Dinmukhamed Kunayev, prominent public figure of Kazakhstan, three times Hero of Socialist Labor.
The Head of State emphasized that Kazakhstan has always remembered merits of the older generation, its contribution to the country's development, and reminded that in first years of formation of independent Kazakhstan, when many post-Soviet countries hid their recent past, our country was given an order to perpetuate the memory of D. Kunayev. In this connection one of the central streets of the city of Almaty was named after a man, who leaded our country for more than 20 years.
